I’m not surprised that there’s yet another new reality show in development, they spring up like Starbucks. I’m a bit surprised about what it’s about though.

Gadget or the Girl will start airing on Playboy TV on Monday, September 1, at 7:30 p.m. EDT. The show, hosted by Iliza Shlesinger(pictured), will start by having a guy meet 3 beautiful women. He will select two of the ladies to take on a date. Eventually he will have to choose one of the women to be his only companion for the rest of the evening.

Then he must make one more decision which is the main premise of the game: go on a romantic weekend getaway with the lady or ditch the girl and bring home a brand new gadget.

The guy won’t learn what the gadget is until he has made his choice. Possible gadgets include a 60-inch plasma Television or a home arcade game. I think for the women it would be quite devastating to be dumped for a TV.

So, which would you pick?

During the summer months I tend to eat a lot of lunch meat sandwiches, mostly because it’s too hot outside to bother cooking. Each now and then I get tempted to try and toast the sandwiches like they do at Subway or Potbelly’s, but to be quite honest, I’m just a bit lazy when it comes to the kitchen. However, if one had these toaster bags, it wouldn’t be hard at all.

These special plastic bags will grant you to toast things other than bread, frozen waffles and bagels in your toaster. If your toaster is huge enough, you could slide a whole sandwich in and have it come out nice and toasty. $19 will get you a pair, which would be worth it when you’re in the mood for a toasty sandwich.

I love animals, and enjoy having them around my house. When I was growing up, we had two dogs and always a few stray cats. It is rare that I actually find myself scared of a dog, as I know that generally they have no desire to injured you. However, there are some dogs that are mean, and very well may attack you. If you’re a person that is forced to come in contact with such animals, you might want to look into this Animal Nuisance Repeller.

This device will emit a high-frequency sound which will make dogs whimper, and generally turn tail and run. This isn’t something I would keep around the house to use as an obedience tool, but rather would see it in the hands of an animal control officer for emergencies. One of these will only set you back around $30.

You’d think that more companies would take a hint from Apple when it comes to slick product design. And don’t get me wrong, design isn’t everything, but it can definitely make your product stand out, particularly if you’re in a crowded market. Take water bottles for example. While I’m perfectly happy with my stainless steel SIGG bottle, I’m ready to trade it in for one of these cool looking KOR ONE ‘hydration vessels’. (Which in and of itself sounds cooler than ‘water bottle’.) Besides being re-usable, the KOR ONE doesn’t use any polycarbonates (like other re-usable plastic bottles) which according to their website contains bisphenol-a or ‘BPA’ which is a known hormone disruptor. That’s pretty much the reason I switched to a stainless steel water bottle in the first place. The KOR ONE also features a hinged cap that can be opened and closed with one hand without the danger of it falling off or going MIA.

The KOR ONE will be available from the company’s website in August for $29.95, and if you think that’s high-priced just run the numbers on how many bottles of water you buy in a year and I think you’ll find it quite reasonable.

I love to eat cake. I rarely make one myself, as I know that I’m likely to eat most of if myself. Any time I’m at my in-laws and there is cake, I usually have to fight my brother-in-law over the last two slices of cake. We usually argue that the other had the more massive piece and so on. Now if only we’d a Fair Share Cake Plate, there would be no need to complain.

The Fair Share Cake Plate is a novelty plate that has measurements along its edge marking down to the millimeter. With this plate, you can make sure that you get everyone’s piece the right size. The plate is a bit salty at $43.50, so I think I can deal with arguing over the bigger piece.

Oh look! Another clever alarm clock design. But this time instead of using a loud audible alarm (or the smell of freshly baked bread) this alarm clock simply vibrates you awake when it’s time to get up. While it might make for a more pleasant morning, it seems to require you to be a bit more diligent than a standard alarm clock does. For example, in order for it to be effective you’ve to remember to place the alarm under your pillow before you go to sleep. And so that there’s no power cord that could strangle you in the middle of the night the alarm’s also battery powered, so you’ll have to remember to keep it in its charging cradle during the day.

But other than that it looks pretty straightforward and easy to use. Setting the time and the alarm is done via a set of buttons that are hidden under a sliding cover which ensures they don’t get accidentally pressed in the middle of the night, and other notable features include a backup audible alarm in case you miss the vibrating one and a built-in LED flashlight. But what I like most about this particular alarm clock is that it isn’t just some concept dreamed up by an industrial designer fresh out of school, but is actually available from Lazybone for about $47.

What’s this, unofficial ‘biker day’ here at OhGizmo? Last week Garmin revealed their new zumo 550 GPS unit and the announcement was timed to coincide with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally which makes sense given the new device is specifically designed for use on bikes. As a result the zumo 550 is not only vibration tested, UV-resistant, waterproof and built with fuel-resistant plastics, but also features a glove-friendly touchscreen display which is readable even in direct sunlight. Other biker-friendly features include a motorcycle console screen which includes easy-to-read trip information and a fuel gauge that’ll warn you when it’s time to fill up, as well as custom ‘caps’ that come in a variety of colors allowing you to match the color of the zumo to your ride.

It includes Garmin’s City Navigator NT street maps software with a “hefty” POI database including motels, restaurants, gas stations and ATMs. You can also add your own custom POIs for things like school zones and “safety cameras” as the Garmin website puts it. (cough, speed traps, cough) An optional XM radio antenna gives you weather, traffic and of course satellite radio, while built-in bluetooth allows you to make calls via the zumo or hear turn-by-turn directions delivered directly to a BT headset or helmet. Compared to other GPS devices on the market, the zumo 550’s $964.27 price tag is a bit steep, but you have to remember that this thing is specifically built to survive the elements.

Asus has announced a new controller. The Eee Stick is a wireless controller that senses motion. But don’t let the similar sounding name, design and function of the Eee Stick fool you, it’s made for PC gaming.

The controller will be bundled with a variety of Asus brand personal and some games designed specifically for use with the Eee Stick.

So are the controllers a good alternative to Wii-less people who have a PC but not a Wii? Or is it a inexpensively made knock-off intended to sell mini computers? Only time, and comments from consumers will tell.

I wonder if historians in the future will look back on these times as the renaissance for alarm clocks? It seems nearly every day there’s a different model popping up that uses some clever trick to get you out of bed in the morning. This day we have the Osim Nioi alarm clock concept which was designed by Alfie Lake. Instead of using a loud buzzing or beeping sound to basically shock you out of a comfortable sleep in the morning (usually putting you in a bad mood) the Osim Nioi releases pleasurable scents, like the smell of freshly baked bread, to wake you up.

In fact the Osim Nioi goes one step further and grants for up to 3 different scent cartridges that can actually be used to give you a more relaxing sleep. For example, in addition to your 7:30am fresh bread wake up call, you can also set the clock to release a lavender scent at midnight, which supposedly calms the body and increases the amount of time you spend restfully sleeping. While I like the idea, I know that the smell of fresh bread isn’t enough to bring me out of my dormant coma in the morning. However, I envision something that smelled a bit more unpleasant might actually do the trick.

Sometimes I come a across a product that promises to do so much for you that it seems like an extraordinary device. Then upon reading up on it you find that there is nothing substantial to back up such claims. Take this awesome HotInazma Pocket, which promises to “improve fuel consumption, reduce emissions” and will even improve the air in your automobile by acting as a negative ion generator. Awesome.

So how does this magic device work? It simply stabilizes the electricity flowing through your car’s electric system via the cigarette lighter adapter. Uh huh, so this little thing is going to make my car run smoother for just $99.95. I think I’ll wait until we see some actual tests that aren’t conducted by the manufacturer before I get excited.
