The Japanese (at least those living in Tokyo) seem to have a real fascination/appreciation for the Yamanote commuter line. First it was commemorated with a novelty alarm clock that included actual sounds from the stations, and now it’s the inspiration for a series of very special watches designed to look like the electronic bulletin boards used on the JR Yamanote line. There are 4 watches in the line that correspond to 4 different stops including the Shinjuku, the Ikebukuro, the Ebisu and the Shinagawa stations. The watches are available from the Seahope website and come with either a leather strap for about $212, or a metal band for about $232.
